Gallivanters Hostel

A Tanzania story still being written

Gallivanters is rebuilding.

Our Masaki chapter has closed, but the Gallivanters story has not. We are creating a new home in Mbezi Beach while continuing to share Tanzania through our journal and Kibwana’s locally operated safari company.

Where we are now

One chapter closed. The welcome remains.

Gallivanters began as a real place filled with real people—backpacks by the door, conversations across the breakfast table, and friendships that continued long after checkout.

We are no longer welcoming guests at our former Masaki property. Today, this website is home to our Tanzania travel journal, our honest rebuilding story, and updates on the future Gallivanters Hostel in Mbezi Beach.

What guests remember

It was the people who made the place.

We remember the pool afternoons, the last-minute safari plans, the long conversations and the guests who returned as friends. Those memories are not marketing material to us. They are the reason we still believe Gallivanters is worth rebuilding.

The founders

Tamara & Kibwana

Tamara shapes the story, guest experience and future vision of Gallivanters. Kibwana is a Tanzanian guide and tour operator whose knowledge helps travelers experience the country beyond a checklist.

Together, we are rebuilding with more honesty, more intention and an even deeper respect for the people who made Gallivanters what it was.
